What is Amendi?
AMENDI is a Swedish-American denim brand with a focus on transparency, responsible design, and production. The name “AMENDI” is a moniker for amendments which means: progression, correction, or improvement. We do not just want to make clothes you can love and trust, we want to do our part to fix what’s broken in our global communities.
-
In what way can AMENDI be considered sustainable?
From an ecological standpoint it is basically impossible for a business to be truly sustainable, especially as fossil fuels remain the primary energy source globally.
However, with the rise of smarter farming practices, renewable energy sources, burgeoning technologies that reduce water usage and waste, there are more ways than ever before for companies to get greener. AMENDI takes full advantage of these resources.
For starters we built our entire raw material and production supply chain in one country. This reduces the amount of freightage, which lessens our carbon footprint, and allows for better oversight and higher quality control which ultimately reduces waste.
Quality is an essential element for a sustainable product. The longer a garment can last, the fewer natural resources are needed to create new ones.
Secondly, we primarily source organic, recycled, or upcycled fabrics.
Third, is technology. One reason we chose our partners is because they have invested in the latest machinery that can build and treat garments without using traditional toxic chemicals or creating excess waste.
Fourth, by providing honest easy-to-access information we hope to not only build trust with our customers but start a conversation around how the industry really works and what we, and others, can do better.
One last example, and maybe the most important: sustainability as a mindset and not a marketing scheme.
At AMENDI we don’t claim to be perfect. But we are passionate about doing better and constantly evolving. We recognize the climate crisis is real and a direct threat. We recognize the irony of starting a clothing brand in this environment, but we don’t believe cynicism or sadness is a solution. Instead we want to take action. We want to partner with businesses and brands who share our values. We are inspired by customers who do whatever they can in their everyday lives to make the world a better place, whether that’s reusing a plastic water bottle, or holding the door for a stranger.
-
You claim to be transparent. What does that mean in practice?
We developed two major projects to make our transparency initiatives easy to access and comprehend.
The first, our Fabrications Facts tag, which is attached to everything we make, presents the most essential elements of the garment including fabric composition and cost details. We develop every tag to reflect each specific garment’s make-up. With a glance you will be able to glean how “sustainable,” or “moral,” or “valuable” that garment is yourself. Click here to go to visit our Transparency page and learn more about our Fabrication Facts tag.
Our second major initiative is our Traceability Module which allows you to track the journey of every piece of AMENDI from the loom to your closet. Knowing where your clothes come from, and all it takes to make them, is essential in understanding their true value. Just type in the style or sku number in the search bar and learn all about your garment’s journey. Click here to go to the Traceability Module
-
I want to become a stockist. How do I apply for an account?
AMENDI distributes its products via third party resellers and at amendi.com. If you have an interest in becoming a stockist please send us an email at info@amendi.com with a short presentation of your store including brand mix, location, e-commerce presence and images. We will get back to you within 48 hours.
